Although there are various methods in making these items, we will focus on the cooking style from Trinidad and Guyana.
In these segments we explore some of the local delicacies of Trinidad as we bring some of its traditional vegetarian dishes.
Dosti Roti (2 in 1)
In this episode of Bhakti Bhojan, we are taught how to make Dosti Roti also know as 2 in 1 by Indra Laloo assisted by Devi Misir.
3 Cups of Flour
3 tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. of Salt
1 tbsp. of Sugar (optional)
1 1/2 Cups of Water
2 tbsps. ghee
1/2 cup of Oil (for coating)
Step 1: Combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
Step 2: Add water and mix into soft dough.
Step 3: Knead dough until smooth.
Step 4: Cover with damp cloth and allow to relax for ½ hour.
Step 5: Divide into eight equal balls “loyah”.
Step 6: Roll two of the loyah into circles (4 inch diameter). Spread a little ghee on one of the circles, sprinkle with flour and cover with other circle. Press the edges of both together with finger tips.
Step 7: Do the same with the remaining 6 loyahs .
Step 8: On a floured board roll out one of the rotis to desired size.
Step 9: Heat the tawah, greased with oil and cook roti for ½ minute. Turnover and grease other side of roti.
Step 10: Allow to cook for ½ minute. Turnover and grease.
Step 11: Flip apart and allow steam to escape.
Step 12: Enjoy with Love
